Praia do Forte has over eight miles of superb sandy beaches and natural sea pools. It's surrounded by thousands of square miles of wild, untouched nature.

Located just north of Salvador, this used to be an old fishing village. Nowadays it's a laidback, downmarket tourist resort with many cheap and cheerful little hotels.

Praia do Forte is home to Brazil's first eco-resort - "Praia do Forte EcoResort". It offers various activities including bird-watching and trekking (through the rain forests!).To get here, head north from Salvador. It's about one and a half hours away.
